Release, Reflect, Reignite: Closing the Year with Purpose and Power

Release, Reflect, Reignite: Closing the Year with Purpose and Power
Posted: December 17, 2024

As the year draws to a close, we often find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of emotions—gratitude for what went right, frustration over what didn’t, and a mix of hope and hesitation about what’s to come.

If this resonates, know you’re not alone. This is the perfect moment to pause, take stock, and intentionally prepare for your next chapter.

Let’s walk through a three-step process to help you close this year with clarity and reignite your passion for the year ahead: Release, Reflect, and Reignite.

Step 1: Release What No Longer Serves You

Holding on to the past—whether it’s mistakes, unmet goals, or toxic habits—can weigh you down. To move forward, you must release the baggage.

• What to release:

• Self-sabotaging behaviors like procrastination or perfectionism.

• Negative self-talk that undermines your confidence.

• The guilt of putting yourself first (yes, it’s okay to prioritize YOU).

Action Step:

Grab your journal or a sheet of paper and write a “Goodbye Letter” to everything you’re ready to release. Be honest. Be bold. Then, physically let it go—tear it up, burn it (safely!), or bury it. Symbolic actions can be powerful reminders of your commitment to change.

Step 2: Reflect on What This Year Taught You

Reflection is where the magic happens. This is your chance to celebrate your wins, acknowledge your growth, and learn from the challenges.

• Questions to guide your reflection:

1. What are three things I’m most proud of this year?

2. What challenges did I face, and what did I learn from them?

3. What patterns or habits do I need to leave behind?

Action Step:

Create a “Lessons and Wins” list. Write down every success, big or small, and note the lessons learned from challenging moments. You’ll be surprised how much you’ve grown when you see it all on paper.

Step 3: Reignite Your Passion and Purpose

After releasing the old and reflecting on the past, it’s time to set your sights on the future. This isn’t about resolutions; it’s about reigniting the fire within you.

• How to reignite:

• Set meaningful intentions, not rigid goals.

• Align your vision with what truly matters to you.

• Prioritize your well-being—because a thriving you creates a thriving life.

Action Step:

Write down three intentions for the new year, focusing on how you want to feel rather than what you want to achieve. For example:

• “I intend to feel confident in my decisions.”

• “I intend to create work-life harmony that feels sustainable.”

• “I intend to embrace progress over perfection.”

The end of the year isn’t just about closing a chapter; it’s about setting the foundation for the next one. By releasing what no longer serves you, reflecting on the lessons, and reigniting your passion, you’re preparing yourself to step into the new year with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

If you’re ready to take these steps to the next level, I invite you to join me in one of my programs, like ReigniteHER or Kickstart Transformation 1:1. Together, we’ll break through self-sabotage and set you on a path to thrive.
